Remember the 70's TV show The Bionic Woman? I use to love that show. Watching a smart, savvy and strong woman take on the bad guys and win was awesome. I had all the toys; the doll, her blow up house (that took all Christmas Morning to inflate), her bionic station, the outfits....EVERYTHING. I wanted to be the bionic woman. Yet, I was only a little girl that hadn't experienced tough life occurrences. I only saw the end product. The bionic woman kicking butt and taking names. But who was Jamie Summers before her bionic prowess? How did she get ...
Karen’s New Radio Job
Happy New Year! I have some exciting news to tell you. I am moving to Cleveland for a new radio job in February. Thank you to everyone in South Florida for supporting my radio career in Miami, my wonderful listeners in Charleston, SC and Florence, SC., and of course everyone on the Working Divas Network. I have been absent for a minute trying to get my professional and personal life in order for this cross country move. Once I am settled, (sometime in February) I will be more active on the blog and network. I can't wait to reconnect with ...
Last night I was up late or many would say up early. I happen to be chatting with one of Miami’s finest, Jill Tracey. We have worked together on different occasions but never sat down and talked about life, our desires, our dreams, our fears, and how to make it in broadcasting during times of despair. It took the power of Facebook and the fact that we were both up late early creating our master plans to reunite. We encouraged each other, brainstormed, and gave each other a virtual hi-five. It’s funny how they say women do not get along or women cannot work together. It’s a myth. Women move the world and we can come together to empower each other and bond.
Jill and I have both been taking on a roller coaster of radio madness. Two sisters who lit up the airwaves in Miami with number one ratings are no longer behind the mic but we have the passion to keep stepping and make our mess our message. Via the Internet we have both connected with listeners and fans giving us the reality that people are still interested, engaged and want to be entertained by us….we hear you! Look for us on Facebook, Twitter and here on the Working Divas blog to keep the light going as we all continue to SHINE.

As you head out for your daily walk bring some H2O but skip the water bottle.
Use a water filter to purify tap water instead of buying bottled water. Not only is bottled water expensive, but it generates large amounts of container waste. Opt for a reusable water bottle made of aluminum rather than plastic when you are on the go.
Yes, this is the Working Divas blog, but there are many Working Dons that are working fathers, single fathers, or married with children that need to know they are appreciated.
To each of you, your children are your future and many blessing to you for nurturing our young children and giving them the support and love they need. President Barack Obama was right when he said, we need to be better parents. Take time with our kids and give them the best of us each day. With many demands on all of us, we need to go back to the old saying, It takes a Village to Raise a Child. If you know of a child in your community that needs a father-figure, step up and give of yourself. If you need assistance in parenting, check out Fatherhood.org. Much Love to all my Brothers…this one is for you.

Yesterday I gave myself a challenge…to get out and play tennis. A friend of mine just started playing and asked me if I played. (lol) I’m laughing because I haven’t picked up a tennis racket since high school. When I was a child my father really wanted to me to get serious about the game. He brought me a racket, a cool jacket and cutie little tennis outfits. He took me to the Volvo Tournament a few times to watch the matches and even made me take tennis lessons. I was pretty good and liked it in the beginning. But I grew up around a bunch of guys. So I was a tomboy at heart. All I wanted to play was football, basketball, baseball and kickball. Those little cutie outfits and me didn’t bond at all. Just give me a pair of jeans and a t shirt and I was cool. So on one hot day Connecticut day in July, I stood on the tennis court burning from the sun and said, “It’s too hot, I don’t want to do this anymore.” My dad was crushed. But I never thought about it again.
Ladies how can we help our environment and look good at the same time? By using beauty products which are all natural. There are so many natural products on the market now, it should be hard to find a few to bring out the Diva in you. As you go on your hunt for the best natural beauty products, look for make-up and beauty products that are made from herbal and flower extracts that haven’t been tested on animals. And the huge green bonus- recycled packaging and containers. Just check out the list below for a few of my favorites. Try them and let me know what you think.
