women save money Money Monday: Save More of YOUR MoneySince the beginning of the year, I’ve been coming up with ways to save more money. Times are tough and money is tight! Whether you are working or not, let your money work for you. With the way this economy is going, we have NO choice but to closely monitor what we make and how we are going to use it for our better good. I don’t know about you, but I want to retire wealthy! Money saved now will benefit us later. Now an occasional pair of shoes at Macy’s is allowed Working Divas. Just make sure they are on sale with an additional 15% off! Make this the year you take control of your money and spending. You work hard for it. Looking to save more? Here are a few savings tips that will get you motivated to save NOW. Let’s help each other out. How do you save? Share your comments!

Lose Coins Savings
I use to get so excited as a child when my father would come over with all of his lose change. We would count it and put it in my big jar in the kitchen. When my jar was full, my mom and I would deposit it in the bank. Try it and get your children involved in saving money. Take all your lose change from your car, purse, throughout your home…even your couch and place it in a safe place like a huge jar or shoe box. Once it’s full deposit it into an interest bearing savings account.
Serial Number Savings
I got this one from Glinda Bridgforth, the author of “Girl Get Your Money Straight,” Whenever I come across a one dollar bill with one of my initials like “K”, I save it. Once my jar is full, I take my savings to the bank and deposit it into my savings account. You can also do this with five dollar bills and ten dollar bills. Just think how much money you will have by keeping all the bills you collect with your initials. You will be one Saving Diva.
Utility SavingsAs you receive your utility bills in the mall, review every line. See if you are being charged for a service you weren’t aware of. Also, see if you can trim off a service or two. Maybe you don’t need cable on every TV. Or downgrade your Internet plan. Are the lights on when you leave? Why do you need the unlimited cell phone plan? Do you really need every channel of HBO?
Automate Savings
Pay yourself first! Talk with someone in your Human Resources department at your workplace  and find out if direct deposit it offered. Fill out the paperwork and have a portion of your check go into a savings account. Rather than making a decision every time you get paid. This way you’re guaranteed to give yourself a savings pay day.
Retirement Savings
Join your employer’s retirement savings plan. Most employers match your contribution. Check with your HR reprehensive and get the ball rolling. Need a push…the money you contribute isn’t taxed.
Create a Working Diva Savings Plan
Buy yourself a notebook and list your monthly expenses. Stick to your spending plan and try to come in under budget every month. If you are able to come under budget, use the money to pay down debt or deposit it into your savings account.
Passion Plan
Do you love to sew, make jewelry, write, set up computers, scrapbook, create websites, create greeting cards for the holidays? Turn your favorite pass time into a money making business. Create flyers and let your family, hair stylist, friends, church members and co-workers know of your services. Take the extra cash and put the remainder after business expenses into your savings account.
HAPPY SAVINGS!
