Vanessa Williams talks Music and Motherhood
The year was 1982...and I was with a few friends over a DJ's house when he was previewing new music. He pulled out the Debarge record, "I Like It" and we were all in El's trance. We wondered like everyone else...is that Switch? Nope...after looking on the back-cover of the album. It was Bobby and Tommy DeBarge's younger siblings. We listened over and over again until we all knew the words and could sing along. Not noticing the time...it was two hours later and past my curfew. Needless to say, the week on punishment was well worth it. I sang, "I Like It," ...
Remember the 70's TV show The Bionic Woman? I use to love that show. Watching a smart, savvy and strong woman take on the bad guys and win was awesome. I had all the toys; the doll, her blow up house (that took all Christmas Morning to inflate), her bionic station, the outfits....EVERYTHING. I wanted to be the bionic woman. Yet, I was only a little girl that hadn't experienced tough life occurrences. I only saw the end product. The bionic woman kicking butt and taking names. But who was Jamie Summers before her bionic prowess? How did she get ...

Working Divas…take control over your money. Are you making the same money mistakes over and over — and are your mistakes the same as other women’s? Find out here…
“Women tend to be more concerned that they’re not putting enough money aside for the future, and fear they’ll outlive their assets,” says finance expert Lisa Caputo, of Women & Co. “Women tend to live longer, require long-term care services when they age, and take more time out of the work force to care for family members. These financial realities make it more important for women to start saving early, save more as they earn more and plan carefully for ‘time-out’ periods.”

Michael Jackson, died today at 2:26 PST after going into cardiac arrest at his Bel-Air mansion. He was 50 years old.
As the industry’s greatest performer, Michael was a triple threat; performer, singer, and composer. In the world of entertainment he was a musical genius that revolutionized music, videos, dance and fashion during his five decade career.
Michael Jackson began his music career along side his four older brothers as the music group, The Jackson 5. In 1968 they soared on the charts as America’s first success boy-band with hits ”ABC” and “I Want you Back.” Michael’s electric performances, would go on to ignite a sole career releasing, “Off the Wall,” “Thriller,” “Dangerous,” and “HIStory,” which made him the best selling entertainer of all time. Are you going around town wishing you had time to get a haircut, meet a friend for coffee, or even just read a book? Just the simple act of getting a little more organized in some areas can unlock quite a bit of ‘free’ time. Read on for some ideas on how to gain a few extra minutes for you in the day.
1. Be Email Fabulous
Setting up email filters is one of the best ways to keep from wasting precious minutes trying to sift though loads of unwanted emails just to get to your important messages. It also saves you time from unwanted, unimportant email interruptions. Also, cancel your “sign-ups” to daily emails you no longer read or care about. A good rule of thumb: if you skip over a particular blast almost 3 or more days a week, you really don’t need it clogging up your inbox. You may also want to ditch RSS feeds that you aren’t reading.

It’s Summertime and the livin’ is easy. But wearing white…not so much. White is classy and elegant when you know how to complement it with the right accessories make your outfit fierce. Check out these tips from Glamour.com’s Suze Yalof Schwarts on how to wear white…right…this summer.
Stay Away From the White-Out Look
Nothing looks chicer than a white pencil skirt for work, and pairing it with a crisp, white top can look even better. The one thing you’ll want to change up though, is your accessories. Stay away from adding more white, as you may end up looking like a nurse-like cartoon character. Instead, try a neutral belt and heels, adding a pop of color with a bright bag. Gold jewelry and tortoise-shell glasses tie it all together, giving you a clean, summer, work look.
Think Mom didn’t teach you anything about money? Maybe you simply weren’t paying attention.
1. “Have a place for everything, and everything in its place.”
Ever tried to balance your checkbook or pay the bills when you couldn’t lay your hands on one all-important piece of paper? And when are those bills due, anyway?
Organization is “very important in your financial life,” says Douglas Borkowski, the director of the Financial Counseling Clinic at Iowa State University. When he was growing up, “Mom and Grandma were the ones who kept things organized,” he says.
2. “Don’t be late.”
Mom was probably talking about school, but the rule applies to money, too. “You’d better pay your bills on time,” says Les Kotzer, an attorney and a co-author of “The Family War: Winning the Inheritance Battle.” Otherwise, you face increased interest rates, late fees and all kinds of financial penalties, including a damaged credit rating.
3. “You can do anything if you set your mind to it.”
It’s a fact: Set a goal and write it down, and you’re much more likely to attain it. (Think of it as jotting down directions to a place you’ve never visited.) It works the same for financial goals.
When it comes to income, debts and savings, “you have to know how the pieces fit,” Borkowski says.
