The year was 1982...and I was with a few friends over a DJ's house when he was previewing new music. He pulled out the Debarge record, "I Like It" and we were all in El's trance. We wondered like everyone else...is that Switch? Nope...after looking on the back-cover of the album. It was Bobby and Tommy DeBarge's younger siblings. We listened over and over again until we all knew the words and could sing along. Not noticing the time...it was two hours later and past my curfew. Needless to say, the week on punishment was well worth it. I sang, "I Like It," ...
Feel Good: Are You a Bionic Woman?
Remember the 70's TV show The Bionic Woman? I use to love that show. Watching a smart, savvy and strong woman take on the bad guys and win was awesome. I had all the toys; the doll, her blow up house (that took all Christmas Morning to inflate), her bionic station, the outfits....EVERYTHING. I wanted to be the bionic woman. Yet, I was only a little girl that hadn't experienced tough life occurrences. I only saw the end product. The bionic woman kicking butt and taking names. But who was Jamie Summers before her bionic prowess? How did she get ...

Makasha Dorsey hit the nail on the head with this one! Before you leave your computer to take on work and life…check yourself at the door and make an attitude upgrade.
Have you ever been told you have a bad attitude? I have. While I was not sure if the person’s assessment of me was correct-I’d never been told that-I did take some time to ponder over the criticism.
What causes one to have a bad attitude? Can it be fixed? How can I guarantee that I will always project a good attitude?
What I found is that there are a myriad of things which causes us to have poor attitudes: the lack of money, too much stress, too little time for self-I could go on but you get the picture.
Last night I was up late or many would say up early. I happen to be chatting with one of Miami’s finest, Jill Tracey. We have worked together on different occasions but never sat down and talked about life, our desires, our dreams, our fears, and how to make it in broadcasting during times of despair. It took the power of Facebook and the fact that we were both up late early creating our master plans to reunite. We encouraged each other, brainstormed, and gave each other a virtual hi-five. It’s funny how they say women do not get along or women cannot work together. It’s a myth. Women move the world and we can come together to empower each other and bond.
Jill and I have both been taking on a roller coaster of radio madness. Two sisters who lit up the airwaves in Miami with number one ratings are no longer behind the mic but we have the passion to keep stepping and make our mess our message. Via the Internet we have both connected with listeners and fans giving us the reality that people are still interested, engaged and want to be entertained by us….we hear you! Look for us on Facebook, Twitter and here on the Working Divas blog to keep the light going as we all continue to SHINE.

Put your friendships in perspective with this article from Stephanie Elliot.
It’s spring — the time of year where we take stock of what we have and dig deep into those closets and drawers to rid ourselves of the clutter we have acquired from the past year. While it’s easy to toss those sweater sets and that old pair of clogs, it’s also the perfect time to look at the people you surround yourself with and see if it’s time to clean up some of your friendships.
It’s great to have a lot of friends, but it can be exhausting to work at friendships that don’t offer much in return. I’ve come to the conclusion in my older and wiser age that QUALITY far outweighs the QUANTITY of friendships.
Do you have friends that just drain you? Ask yourself of each relationship you have: What am I getting out of this friendship? Read the rest of this entry »
Actress Valerie Bertinelli has taken off the weight, written a book and now showing off her bikini body on the cover of People Magazine. Whether it is weight gain or weight loss…we as women are always scrutinized. You don’t see anyone talking about Will Smith gaining a few pounds. But Jessica Simpson became the post child for weight gain after a not so flattering picture of her circulated on the Internet.
