Remember the 70's TV show The Bionic Woman? I use to love that show. Watching a smart, savvy and strong woman take on the bad guys and win was awesome. I had all the toys; the doll, her blow up house (that took all Christmas Morning to inflate), her bionic station, the outfits....EVERYTHING. I wanted to be the bionic woman. Yet, I was only a little girl that hadn't experienced tough life occurrences. I only saw the end product. The bionic woman kicking butt and taking names. But who was Jamie Summers before her bionic prowess? How did she get ...

Once I am settled, (sometime in February) I will be more active on the blog and network. I can't wait to reconnect with ...

Book clubs stand up! After a 10 year break from writing and getting her exhale on, Terry McMillian has written “Getting Happy,” the much anticipated sequel to her bestseller “Waiting to Exhale.” We have been ready for this one for a long, long time. My wish….a sequel to the movie with the original cast. Wouldn’t that be sweet. Let me not jump the gun….the book still has to make its way to the shelves. Terri was recently in the Bahamas to chat about book being released in September. You know ”Getting Happy” will be a book club pick this fall. Check out the video.

How did Sherri come up with the concept for her new book, “Permission Slips?” Watch the video and see if you can relate. I know I can. “Permissions Slips” is our book of the month for November. We have about a week left in the month so pick it up and let us know what you think.
OK…I’m giving myself a permission slip. I waited until November 8th to tell you guys our November book of the month. Have I been slippin’….a little…but do I get back on track…Always.
I love this book by Sherri, she has hit the nail on the head with this one. From time to time we are not going to be the perfect friend, daughter, relative, significant other, or mother. So instead of letting the guilt consume you like watching your favorite celeb on “Dancing with the Stars”…give yourself a permission slip and move on!
Covering topics such as “It’s Jesus or Jail,”"Marriage, the Hard Way,”"Children: The Gift You Can’t Give Back,” and “All the Things I Don’t Know…And All the Things I Definitely Do,” stand-up comedienne, actress, and ABC’s The View co-host Sherri Shepherd comically chronicles her struggles to keep up with the many roles-professional, wife, mother, daughter, and friend-that women must play in today’s world. Sherri urges women to pursue their most important dreams and to never give up, but also let’s readers know that it’s okay to give themselves “permission slips” when things don’t always work out the way they want them to. As her many fans know, Sherri is never hesitant to speak from the heart, and her bubbly personality shines through in this delightful autobiography. Happy reading!
When was the last time you gave yourself a Permission Slip?
